Daniel Day-Lewis celebrated his 67th birthday with an outing in the Big Apple on Monday.
The reclusive Oscar winner — whose last public appearance was at the National Board of Review Awards Gala back in January — was spotted taking a solo stroll in Manhattan.
Sporting a casually chic navy outfit, the There Will Be Blood star maintained a low profile with a baseball hat and dark-tinted sunglasses.
His tattooed forearms were prominently showcased in the short-sleeve shirt, complemented by a distinctive leather necklace and sturdy combat boots with thick heels.
Although Daniel hasn't made a film since 2017's Phantom Thread, Jim Sheridan — the director of his films My Left Foot (1989), In the Name of the Father (1993) and The Boxer (1997) — recently said that he would like to work with the Oscar winner again.

'He says he’s done, I keep talking to him. I’d love to do something with him again,' the Irish filmmaker said of the actor's retirement to ScreenDaily.
'He’s like everybody else, he opens up the streamers and there’s seven thousand choices, none of them are good,' he explained.
'Film has been moved out of the public domain into a private domain – you have a remote, you can stop it. It’s not the same experience.'
Nevertheless, the famed director said: 'It’d be great to see Daniel coming back and doing something ‘cos he’s so good.'
Daniel's Big Apple excursion was certainly a welcome treat for his fans, as the handsome thespian was photographed for the first time in public in four years back in May 2023.
He didn’t appear to be keeping a low profile, however, as his ensemble was certainly eye-catching.
Rocking a bright blue tracksuit, a graffiti trucker hat and long grey hair, the star was quite the spectacle on the NYC sidewalks.
The method actor has not been on a red carpet since announcing his retirement in June 2017, following the release of Phantom Thread. '

Daniel won his first-ever Academy Award for My Left Foot, a 1989 dramedy in which he played a man suffering from cerebral palsy
A few months prior to the film's scheduled release, Daniel made a dramatic announcement through a spokesperson, declaring his retirement.
'This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject,' the statement concluded.
In a subsequent interview with W, he explained that he had wanted to retire multiple times before and finally issued the announcement to force his own hand.
'I knew it was uncharacteristic to put out a statement. But I did want to draw a line. I didn’t want to get sucked back into another project,' he said.
'All my life, I’ve mouthed off about how I should stop acting, and I don’t know why it was different this time, but the impulse to quit took root in me, and that became a compulsion. It was something I had to do.'
With the announcement, Hollywood would lose the only actor to have won three Best Actor Oscars.

In his retirement, Daniel splits his time between New York City and Annamoe, Ireland with his wife Rebecca Miller, 61, and their sons, Ronan, 25, and Cashel, 21.
Daniel also shares son, Gabriel, 28, with his ex girlfriend, French star Isabelle Adjani.
